The 10 week program is specifically designed to introduce solar to students with limited to no exposure to the subject.
Students might have a general idea or interest in solar, but this program gives them a chance to dive into many considerations of solar project development and execution. They will have the chance to apply what they learn in a capstone project designed to enhance critical thinking, public speaking skills, and technical knowledge of renewable energy systems.
Weekly Lectures
Our program includes weekly presentations by a renewable energy professional to the students enrolled in the program, either virtually or in person. The content behind the weekly lectures is structured to give students exposure to the entire solar cycle, from project origination through development, execution, and ongoing operations.
Critical Thinking Exercises
Every week, the instructor facilitates critical thinking exercises that are relevant to the topics discussed during that week, and tie into bigger concepts that will be relevant for the capstone project. Students engaging in these exercises will work on their public speaking, group dynamics, and generally increase their knowledge of concepts in solar energy.
Capstone Project
Students design, price and prepare a formal response similar to the type of presentations conducted in the solar industry to evaluate contractors for solar opportunities. Students create their own companies with capabilities, and use tools provided by the instructor to complete their project in a group setting.
